Margaret Sever age 88, of Lake Linden, Michigan passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday January 27, 2025 at Canal View in Hancock, where she had been a resident for 5 years. Born Margaret Ramsay in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland to Samuel and Mary (McTear) Ramsay on October 13,1936. She was the youngest of four children. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother William, sisters Annie and Mona, and two grandchildren Jason Maier and Peter Morss.
Margaret came to the United States by ship in 1954 with her mother and sister Mona to live in Detroit, Michigan with sister Annie where she met the love of her life, Darriell Sever. Margaret and Darriell were married in Detroit on May 4, 1957. While in Detroit, she worked for Michigan Bell until they relocated to Laurium, Michigan in 1959. The mother of four was active in the Calment Hockey and Figure Skating Associations where she volunteered countless hours.
In 1972 Margaret took a job at Quality Super Value in Laurium to earn money for a family vacation to Scotland. In 1974 She achieved her goal and was able to share her homeland with her husband and children during a 6-week vacation. She continued to work at the Quality Super Value where she made many lifelong friends. In 1979 the family moved to Mud Lake and shortly thereafter she left the Quality Super Value and took a position at Torch Lake Credit Union until she retired in 1999 to take care of her grandchildren.
Margaret enjoyed dancing, traveling and motorcycle riding, was a member of the Calumet VFW Post 3900 Auxiliary, and was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 68 years, Darriell Sever, children Russell of Oregon, Scott (Maryann) Sever of Dollar Bay, Tracey (Don) Beauchamp of Lake Linden, Derek (Kristi) Sever of St. Joseph, MI. Five grandchildren Christiana (Andrew) Latimore, Shane (Lauren) Sever, Dylan Sever, Jacob and Zachary Stipe and 3 great grandchildren Anaira and Braelynn Kapsner, and Macy Sever.

A visitation will be held for Margaret Sever on Monday February 3rd, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church. A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Sever will take place on Monday, February 3rd, 2025 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church in Calumet, Michigan.
