Traprock Valley: Margaret “Peggy” Basham, 71, passed away unexpectedly, at her home in Traprock Valley on Saturday, January 18, 2020.
She was born on October 20, 1948, 3rd daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Hagman) Baccus. She was a graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1966. She earned her Nursing Degree from Saint Joseph School of Nursing in Hancock.
She worked as a nurse locally at Calumet Public Hospital and Houghton County Medical Care. She also worked at hospitals in Oregon and Washington until her retirement.
She was married to John Basham in Detroit on October 24, 1969. John passed away in May of 2005.
She had been a member of the Lake Linden Methodist Church and was attending Faith Lutheran in Calumet.
Peggy loved gardening, reading, and walking in the outdoors. She enjoyed Hallmark movies and identifying birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and nephews-Ben and Andy.
She is survived by: brothers and sisters-Bonnie (James) Chmielewski of Calumet, Barbara (Victor) Tienhaara of Houghton, Bill (Sue) Baccus of Traprock Valley, Mary (Bruce) Joosten of Traprock Valley, Richard (Julie) Baccus of Traprock Valley; uncle-Joseph Enrietti; numerous nieces and nephews; and 2 cats-Cricket and Chloe.
The memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 22, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Pastor Jared Howard to officiate. Friends may call for 1 hour before the service on Wednesday.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
