Margaret M. Griffor, 92, a resident of Houghton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Portage Pointe in Hancock with her family by her side.
Margaret was born on October 20, 1930, in Detroit, the daughter of the late Harvey and Anna (Piche’) Richie. On April 23, 1949, she was united in marriage to James Griffor. James preceded her in death in 2001 after 52 years of marriage. Margaret resided with her family in the Marine City area before making the Copper Country her home in 1976. She was a proud career mom of 10 great children who enjoyed quilting and crafting.
Margaret was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton where she delivered communion and food baskets for homebound parishioners. She also enjoyed volunteering for St. Vincent de Paul.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband are a son, Preston, and a daughter, Charlene Westrick.

Margaret is further survived by 27 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private graveside blessing with Fr. John Martignon was held in the Greenland Township Cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family asks that donations be directed to the Omega House, 2211 Maureen Lane, Houghton MI 49931, in Margaret’s memory.
