Margaret H. Lindeman, 98, a resident of the Arbor Green Senior Living Community and former Winona resident passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at The Pewabic House of Portage Pointe in Hancock, where she had been a patient for the past three months.
She was born on September 16, 1924, in Winona, a daughter of the late Frank and Ida (Turala) Wiita. She was raised in Winona and attended the Winona School.
On September 28, 1940, she was united in marriage to Floyd Lindeman. The couple had resided in Atlantic Mine for a short time before moving to make their home in Winona, where they raised their two daughters. On July 23, 1996, Floyd preceded Margaret in death. Following Floyd’s death Margaret resided in Twin Lakes for a few years before moving to Houghton to make her home at the Arbor Green Senior Living Community in 2009.
Margaret managed the books for her husband’s logging and welding business. She was an active member for many years at First Lutheran Church of Winona, teaching Sunday School and helping with various church social functions. More recently, Margaret was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock. Mrs. Lindeman was also very active in the Winona area; she was a 4-H leader for many years, sat on the Elm River Township School board and was a former school board Treasurer. She also served on the Elm River Township Board. Margaret enjoyed working on different crafting projects in her free time such as knitting, sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She also was a wonderful cook and baker.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her granddaughter; Joelle Bowling, her great-granddaughter Chelsea Bowling, and her sister Charlotte Erickson.
Surviving are: Her daughters: Rita Lorenz of Tucson, AZ, and Christine Ahola of Hancock; Her grandchildren: Connie Ahola, Neil (Tammy) Ahola, and Daniel Lorenz; Her great-grandchildren: Heather, Kaylee and Zachary; Her great-great grandchildren: Brylee, Kendall, Ember & Ava; Several nieces, nephews and cousins
A funeral service for Margaret will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock with Rev. Brahm Semmler Smith to officiate. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery of Winona.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 12 noon until time of services at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock.
