Obituary: Marcia Ann Bennetts

Marcia Ann (Rapson) Bennetts, 89, peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, surrounded by her family.  She was born on August 23, 1931 and lived in Ahmeek until she married Harry D. Bennetts on October 10, 1953.

Marcia graduated from Calumet High School in 1949.  She worked at C&H Mining and Vertin’s.  Marcia was involved with the United Methodist Women, Extension, the Young Moderns, Kernewek and the Blue Line Club at Michigan Tech.  She was also part of the Skeeters cross country ski group and the Calumet Golf Course Women’s League.  In the more recent years, Marcia loved the Tuesday afternoon coffee group.

Marcia had a passion for hockey, the Packers and hockey.  She was an avid supporter of Calumet High School hockey, Michigan Tech hockey and the Red Wings.  She especially loved watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play.  You could often find her at the Coliseum watching her friends’ children or grandchildren play.

Marcia was preceded in death by her father, Thomas H. (Pat) Rapson; and her mother, Ruth (Knight) Rapson.

Marcia is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harry Bennetts, her children Rick (Holly) Bennetts of Redford, MI; Patti (Steve) Kirst of Waterford, WI and Ron (Heidi) Bennetts of Marquette, MI; along with 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Calumet United Methodist Church, 57235 Calumet Avenue Calumet, MI 49913 or the Calumet Hockey Association, PO Box 385 Calumet, MI 49913.

Burial will take place in the spring in Lake View Cemetery.
