Obituary: Lylan A. Corey

     Lylan A. Corey, 72, a resident of Hancock passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the Omega House in Houghton with her family by her side following a brief battle with cancer. 

     She was born on December 21, 1951, in Ontonagon, MI. She was the daughter of the late Donald D. and Elsie (Hoover) Corey II. Lylan was raised on the LP Walsh Rd outside of Ontonagon and resided there until 1993 when she and her parents moved to Hancock.  

     Lylan attended the Ontonagon High School with the class of 1970.

     She had a deep Christian faith, was a talented artist, and had a beautiful singing voice. 

     Preceding her in death were her parents and a nephew David Leon Winquist. 

     Surviving are her brothers and sisters: Carol Geiger of Hancock, Helen (John) Botto of Houghton, D. David (Pattie) Corey of Mass City, Wesley (Dawn) Corey of Mass City, and 16 nieces and nephews. Her aunts and uncle: Betty Golding of Hudson KY, Shirley Hoover of Silver City MI and Russell Schmitt of Gilman WI. Along with numerous cousins and friends. 

     A celebration of Lylan’s life will be held later this year with a burial in the Oskar Cemetery.

     The family would like to thank the Omega House of  Houghton for their amazing care and compassion for our sister Lylan.
