Louise I. Erva, 82, a resident of the Houghton Canal, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021, at UP Health System – Portage.
She was born on November 10, 1938, in Liminga, a daughter of the late Hjalmer and Hilda (Seppala) Anderson. Louise attended the Liminga and Redridge Schools and was a graduate of Houghton High School with the class of 1956.
On October 5, 1957, she was united in marriage to Milton Erva. The couple resided for a short time in Hancock before moving to make their home on the Houghton Canal.
Louise was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton. She was a talented seamstress and quilter.
Preceding her in death were her great-grandchildren; Carlee, Rylan and Tage Seppanen, her son-in-law: Jay Seppanen; her parents, step-father, Leo Niemi, her sisters: Mildred Maki, Helen Kinnunen and Margaret Markham; her brothers Reino and Melvin; Sister-in-law Eleanor Anderson, Brothers-in-law James Markham and Art Maki.

A private funeral service for Louise will be held at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with David Taivalkoski to officiate. Burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery.
