Lorraine Leora Miller, age 89 of Alston, MI passed into eternal life on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Bayside Village, L’Anse, MI with her loving family at her side. She was born on July 11, 1932 the daughter of the late Ruben and Sylvia (Wayrynen) Barney. She graduated from Trout Creek High School in June of 1950. On July 2, 1951 she married Warren “Red” Miller. He preceded her in death in 2014. Lorraine and her husband had owned and operated the Village Bar in Alston for 52 years. She was well known and loved by many friends who traveled to the bar to visit with her. She had also helped operate their cattle farm in Matchwood and Topaz, operated Miller’s Store in Matchwood and helped sell and drive cars up from Detroit for Millers Used Car Dealership. Lorraine enjoyed knitting, sewing, canning, was a Green Bay Packer fan and loved spending time with her family.
Lorraine is survived by her loving children Warren (Connie) Miller of Nisula, Bonnie (Laird) Heikkinen of Aura, Debbie Hietikko of Pelkie, Craig (Jackie) Miller of Chassell, Michele (Terry) Miller-Ogea of Kingsford and Mark Miller of Alston, 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, sisters Sally Hautamaki and Mary Pinar of Trout Creek, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Sherry Hakola, grandson Bobby Hakola, granddaughter Tabathia Miller, great grandchildren Brewer, Justice and Raylea Manthey, and her sister Sharon White.
Funeral services for Lorraine will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Father Corey Litzner officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Immediately following the funeral service, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral home. Interment will take place Friday at 2 p.m. in the Pelkie Cemetery.
