Lois Marie Tembreull, age 87, of L’Anse, MI, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, at Omega House in Houghton, MI. A lifelong resident of L’Anse, Lois was born on May 28, 1931, to the late Earl and Mildred (Sands) Daust. She graduated from L’Anse High School in 1949 and married John “Pat” Tembreull on September 3, 1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Lois and Pat owned and operated Lakeview True Value in downtown L’Anse for many years. Lois had an abiding love for her community and once served as L’Anse Township treasurer. Lois was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she sang in the choir for 70 years and along with her husband headed up many ministries.
She loved bringing cookies to Bayside Village and was known for her desserts at Greenhill Manor where she resided. Lois enjoyed quilting and reading, but spending time with her family and friends was most dear to her heart.
Lois is survived by her loving family: sons John (Patricia) Tembreull, David (Carol) Tembreull, and Robert Tembreull, all of L’Anse; and daughter Catherine (Mark Mudgett) Van Erp of Ohio; as well as 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers Perry Daust of Minnesota, James (Karen) Daust of Gaylord, Pat (Kathy) Daust of Marquette, and sister Margaret (Ray) McDonald of L’Anse, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Visitation will be held at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse, from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. The family will also greet friends from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse, where a Mass of Christian burial will be held beginning at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be held in the church hall immediately following the Mass. Interment will take place at a later date in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts in honor of Lois be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse, or The Omega House, Houghton. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.
