Lois E. Usitalo, 86, a former resident of Oskar passed away Sunday August 19, 2018, at Woodland Haven of the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident for the past three years.
She was born on October 23, 1931, in Hancock, the daughter of the late Herbert and Violet (Mayra) Usitalo. Lois was raised in Oskar and was a graduate of the Houghton High School with the class of 1949.
Ms. Usitalo had worked for the Daily Mining Gazette and then retired from the Library at Michigan Technological University after 25 years of service.
Lois was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her retirement spending much of her time walking her favorite dog Josie.
Also preceding her in death were her brothers Robert Usitalo and Herbert Usitalo.
She is survived by a sister-in-law Joyce Usitalo of Calumet and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Lois will be held 2 pm Thursday, August 23, 2018, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with David Taivalkoski to officiate. Burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday August 23, 2018 from 1 pm until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.
