Obituary: Lawrence F. Parolini

As received from the Memorial Chapel & Plowe Funeral Homes:

Lawrence F. Parolini, 99, a resident of Baltic, passed away Friday morning March 5, 2021, at his home following a short battle with cancer.

He was born on November 1, 1921, in Paradise Location, a son of the late James and Celina (Chaput) Parolini.  Lawrence was raised in Onkalo’s Corner and attended the Isle Royale and Houghton Schools.

Lawrence was a veteran, having served with the United State Army in the Aleutian Islands during World War II.

On June 30, 1951, he was united in marriage to the former Esther Kukkonen. The couple had resided in Baltic since that time where they raised their family.  On September 3, 2016, Esther preceded Lawrence in death.

Lawrence had worked as a logger before joining Operator’s Local Union #324 in 1952.  Over the years he worked on various jobs for Lindberg & Sons Construction and was proud to have been a union member for 69 years.

Lawrence was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of South Range where he had worked with Esther as janitors.  He enjoyed traveling with Esther, feeding and watching the birds, and working on various woodworking projects. Lawrence especially enjoyed getting together with his family, going everywhere in the company of his tiny Pomeranian, Drew, and having coffee with his friends at Tina’s in South Range.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his brothers James and Gerald.

     Surviving are:
