UPDATE: A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, at 10:00am, in the Lake View Cemetery in the Veteran Section.
Lawrence “Chuck” Ellenich of Calumet, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.
He was born on April 24, 1949, in Calumet, Michigan to Lawrence and Elizabeth (Belanger) Ellenich.
Chuck attended Calumet High School where he graduated in 1967. He met his wife; Sandra and they were married in April of 1986. Chuck is a Veteran of the United States Army and he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War.
He worked for many years at Horner Flooring in Dollar Bay retiring in 2010.
Chuck enjoyed hunting at Pine Palace Camp, spending time outdoors, and spending time with his friends.
Preceding him in death was his parents brother Joe “Elboe” Ellenich and his sister Patty Conrad.
He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Ellenich, Daughter Naomi (Greg) Carrier of Marquette ,MI . Son Aaron (Lindsay) Laakonen of Concord MI , special nieces and nephews and many cousins and special friends Doug White , David Kohn , Mike and Gordie and many many others
Grandchildren Adam White who had a very special relationship with, when he was young he would build Lincoln logs and watch looney toons cartoons , go on rides together and being best buddies he adored him … Adam when little referred to him as Grandpa Hambone and Lilja Laakonen who he loved dearly as he loved both his grandkids
He was a loving , caring , hardworking, husband , father , friend and veteran…….He will be eternally missed but we rest in the lords peace knowing we will be reunited and see him again in heaven one day.
Graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring at Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
