Larry Clifford LeClaire, age 78 of Watton, MI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 8th, 2021 in Appleton, WI.
He was born October 28, 1942 in Hancock, MI son of Clifford and Loretta (Girard) LeClaire. Larry graduated from Baraga High School in 1960 and then went on to serve in the National Guard from 1960-67. He married the former Nora Jane Ruona on August 6, 1966. They resided most of their life in L’Anse, moving to Watton about 20 years ago.
Larry began his career working for Prochs Construction Company in Iron River for 17 years, then worked with Bacco Construction as a superintendent, retiring in 2004. He was a member of St. Ann’s and Sacred Heart Churches, L’Anse Golf Club, and a former member of L’Anse Lions Club. He enjoyed golfing and got a hole-in-one, hunting, fishing, being outdoors, traveling, and wintering in Florida. Larry loved visiting his grand kids and following them in their sports and activities.
Surviving is his wife Jane LeClaire of Watton; children, Ann (Brian) Hiltunen of Appleton, Sara (special friend Rick Driver) LeClaire of Milwaukee, David LeClaire of L’Anse; grandchildren, Jacob and Hanna Hiltunen both students at Michigan Tech; and numerous nieces and nephews..
Preceding him in death are his siblings, Dale LeClaire, Marcia Cossette, Alger LeClaire, and Dan LeClaire.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 15th from 4-6:00 p.m. at St Ann Church in Baraga. A funeral mass will be held at 6:00 p.m. with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
