Kurt Peterson’s five year battle with cancer came to a peaceful end on Sunday June 13, 2021 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.
He was born on May 22, 1957 in Garden City, Michigan to Donald and Beverly (Pitts) Peterson.Kurt graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1976.
After school he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard where he served honorably until his discharge in 1998.Later he worked for Calumet Electronics, Rippa Products, Bay Electric and at the Houghton County Airport.
Kurt loved camping at Sunset Bay Campground on Five Mile Point Road, hunting, metal detecting, grilling, blowing snow and tinkering with engines. He will be sadly missed by all of his chipmunks that he loved to feed.
Preceding him in death was his father Donald Peterson and a brother Morgan Peterson.
Surviving are: His son Morgan of Indiana
His life partner and best friend Jerri Gruber, and her children Mariah, Brianne and Brandon.Jerri Gruber
mother, Beverly Peterson; his siblings: Marsha (Steven) Daniels, Scott (Amy Pace) Peterson, and Nancy (David) Regis, along with grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements will be announced by the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet.
