Kristy Newsom, 40, a resident of Calumet passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday May 5, 2021.
She was born on May 23, 1980 in Flint but definitely became a yooper. She loved where she lived and attended the Copper Country Intermediate School where Kristy became Prom Queen 1999-2000.
Kristy loved spending time with her “Grandbabies.” She enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, creating many pieces of artwork, and driving and riding her four wheeler.
Kristy loved her “Mike Dog,” cooking and Mike just as Much.; she also would go out to eat with her Dad and always order her Steak. She also kept close tabs on her brothers to make sure they never stepped out of line.
Kristy frequently traveled with her much loved Grandma Dot. Yearly trips to Florida, Bette Mildler, concert, and her love of roses. Grandma Dot was one of Kristy’s Best Friends and so Dear to her heart.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fenton.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bradley Newsom, her maternal grandfather Nolan Dolliver, her paternal grandpartents, Levi Newsom and Mabel Newsom, her aunts, Sharon Cowell and Sandy Bucknam, and Grandma Goodly (Margaret “Peg” Dimmer).
She is survived by:
Her father: Tim Newsom of Calumet
Her mother: Anni (Mike) Dimmer of Calumet
her brother: Joel Newson of Laurium
Her grandbabies: Kaylee, Bella, Nala and Bradley Newsom of Laurium
Warren and Jayna Newsom of Gwinn, Michigan
Along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A private family service will take place later this summer.
