Kenneth Arne Oscar Huhtasaari, age 87 of Askel, MI passed away on Thursday, September 30th, 2021 at his home. He was born June 10, 1934 in Elo, MI son of Arne and Anna (Heikkinen) Huhtasaari. Kenneth attended the John A Doelle School in Tapiola and then school in Detroit. He married the former Eva Matsen on May 12, 1956 in Detroit. Ken was in the US Army from 1957-59. He worked for Federal Mougl in Detroit for 19 years prior to moving to Askel in 1974 when he began working for Celotex Corp, retiring after 25 years. Ken was a member of the Mission United Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, Detroit Red Wings Hockey and following his grandson’s hockey, and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Eva Huhtasaari of Askel; children, Kerrie (Bud) Keranen of Elo, Kenneth (Bonnie) Huhtasaari of L’Anse, Karl (Young) Huhtasaari of Askel, Kim (Kirk) Beyer of Askel; brother Michael (Phyllis) Huhtasaari of White Lake, MI; 12 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents; siblings, Clarence Huhtasaari and Shirley Kezel. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home with Pastor David Hoskins officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Elo Cemetery with military rites at 12:15 p.m. A luncheon will follow at the Mission United Lutheran Church in Pelkie. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
