Kenneth (Ken) C. Summers, age 43 of Eden Prairie MN passed away at home with his loving family by his side on June 6, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in L’Anse MI the son of Lisa (Turner) Philip and Charles Summers. Ken graduated from L’Anse Area Schools in 1996, then Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance in 2000. He went on to work as a market reporter for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, then realized his dream to become a Trader on the Exchange. Ken married Bridget Clark at a beautiful destination wedding in Napa Valley, CA on October 7, 2006.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Bridget, son Garrett Summers, of Eden Prairie MN; son Roger Hayes of Naperville IL; his parents Lisa (Michael) Philip and Charles Summers, both of L’Anse; his brothers Dale (Mariah) Summers of Hancock MI, Mitchell Summers of Pelkie MI, Michael (Erika) Philip of Washington DC, and Matthew (Christopher Whyde) Philip of Chicago IL; grandmother Elizabeth Turner of L’Anse; his uncles and aunts Michelle (Michael) Jupe of Escanaba MI, Michael Turner of L’Anse, Richard (Brenda) Summers of L’Anse, Jeffrey (Debbie) Summers of Herman MI, William Summers of Kingston TN, and James (Melissa) Newland of Skanee MI. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents William Turner, Clifton Summers and Almina Summers; and his Aunt Catherine (Turner) Newland.
A visitation memorial will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse, MI. Immediately following the memorial, burial will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. A repast will follow at the L’Anse Township Park from 5 p.m. until-8 p.m.
