Obituary: Kenneth A. Cline, Jr.

Kenneth A. Cline, Jr., 79, a resident of South Range, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021, at UP Health – Portage.

He was born on May 24, 1942, in Trimountain a son of the late Kenneth and Sylvia (Mortti) Cline.  Ken was raised in Tapiola and was a graduate of the John A. Doelle School.

On July 21, 1962, he was united in marriage to the former Barbara A. Velmer.  The couple moved to South Range to raise their family.  On January 1, 2020, Barbara preceded Ken in Death.

Mr. Cline had owned and operated the Mobile Station in South Range before beginning a career as a machinist for OK Auto and Car Quest, retiring in 2004.  Ken was always active and enjoyed working on various project in his retirement and was a gifted woodworker.  He also was a member of the South Range Fire Department for 20 years.

Preceding him in death was his wife, his son Gary, his parents, and his brother Benny.

Surviving are:        
     His children: Donald (Michelle) Cline of South Range                                               
                        Cindy (Steve) Raffaelli of Toivola        
     His grandchildren: Tara, Dustin & Shane Raffaelli and Travis Cline        
     His great-grandchildren: Madden, Tripp and Lydia.        
     His brother: John Cline        
     His sisters: Roseanne Perala, Sara (Wayne) Rodemeier & Grace Mikkola,             
     His brothers & sisters-in-law: Robert (Shirley) Velmer, Richard (Donna) Velmer, Carol Lafernier, Patsy Velmer, Rosemary (William) Heikkinen, Theresa Velmer, Eleanor Velmer and Ethel Vizna.                 
     Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service and blessing for Kenneth and Barbara will be held 11:30 Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Mt. View Cemetery of South Range, with Fr. John Martignon to officiate.
