Obituary: Katherine Saari

Hancock

     Katherine Saari 93, a resident of Hancock passed away Friday, March 1, 2019, at the Franklin House of Portage Pointe where she had been a resident patient for the past year.

     She was born on February 7, 1926, in Houghton, MI, a daughter of the late Jack and Florence (Chapman) Hodge.  Katherine was raised in Houghton and attended the Houghton Schools.

     On November 24, 1951, she was united in marriage to John A. Saari.  The couple had resided in Hancock and Paavola where they raised their children.  John preceded her in death on October 12, 1989.  Katherine loved spending time with her family and going for Sunday rides-she also enjoyed going to the South Range Eagle dances in earlier years -Katherine had an infectious laugh that was enjoyed by all who knew her -a fun loving person to be around”

     Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, 4 sister and 1 brother.

            22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren

            Several nieces, nephews and cousins

     Funeral services for Katherine will be held 5 pm Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral home of Hancock with Rev. Arvo Onermaa to officiate.  Spring burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.

     Friends may call on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, from 3 to 5 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.
