Justin VanGarsse, 33, lifelong resident of Calumet, passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2021 with his family by his side.
Justin was born on March 31, 1988 in Hancock, Michigan, a son of Eric and Laurie VanGarsse. He attended CLK schools and the Copper Country ISD.
Justin was known for his big heart and contagious smile. He was always first in line to help those in need, and loved making people feel happy and appreciated. Justin loved to fix things, especially bikes and lawnmowers, a talent he had since his early childhood. He loved riding his bike, collecting cans, spending time with his family, and many other hobbies. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Red Wings, never missing a game on TV.
Justin will be dearly missed by all the lives he touched in his community.
Preceding him in death was: his father-Eric Eugene VanGarsse; maternal grandparents-Lucretia and Ted Fisher; paternal grandparents-Gene and Kay VanGarsse; uncle-Ray VanGarsse; uncle-David Noye, and his niece-Sierra Jarvi.
He is survived by: his mother-Laurie VanGarsse of Calumet, sister-Rebecca VanGarsse, brother-in-law-Ryan Karpinen; aunts-Susan Fisher of Calumet, Judie (Sean) Reynolds of Wisconsin, and Sandra Ecker of Iron Mountain; uncle-Matthew Fisher of Wisconsin; nieces-Jasmyn Mytty, Isabella Fredrickson, Rosalee Karpinen, Aiyanah Karpinen, and Arielle Karpinen; nephew-Damon Fredrickson; along with numerous cousins and friends in his community, and his very special friend who was like a sister-Jenny Palosaari.
A memorial service will be held in January at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden.
