As received from the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home:
On June 25, 2023, June R. Peterson aka Junie passed into her second journey with her loving daughter by her side. She was born June 26, 1944, on Pewabic street in Laurium to Toivo and Mamie (Koivu/BuIIer) Ahonen.
Junie graduated from Calumet schools in 1962. This is where she met the love of her life, Roy A., where they married in June 1964.
Junie started her life out working for Jack’s Insurance company, then for WHPF radio as a book keeper until she had children. Then she was a homemaker and babysat for the Mitchell’s until her children were school age. Then she applied at Calumet schools where she landed a job as a teacher’s aide. She worked her way up to assistant librarian and then retired.
Junie was an avid reader. She loved boating and fishing with her love, Roy. She also researched her family history all the way over to Finland which she was proud Finlander. She also was a great historian to the Lac La Belle area where her family (Ahonen) had commercial fishing and store there. That’s why when the home in Bete Grise was for sale she told her love she wanted it and they bought it and many know of her from there.
Preceding in death were her parents, stepfather, John Buller. Her sister, Eva (infant), George R (Lily) Ahonen, John Ahonen, Dave (Mary) Ahonen, her loving husband, Roy and her son, R. Allen Peterson aka Al Pete.
Junie is survived by her only daughter, Amy Sue Peterson, two grandchildren, Rachel and Gage. And one very special great grandson, Waylon Roy. She has several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Condolences of a gift can be made to KSnag or the C.C. Human Society in her honor.
