Obituary: Judy M. Robillard

As received from the Jacobson Funeral Home

Judy M. Robillard passed away peacefully on June 22, 2022 at the age of 73 at Baraga Memorial Hospital in Bovine, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Judy was born on October 3, 1948 and is the daughter of Joseph J. and Georgianna L. (Selden) Robillard.

Judy was a compassionate nurse’s aide at BCMH and BCMH Home Health and Hospice for 10 years. She worked at Copper Country Mental Health for an additional 10 years. Aside from healthcare, she owned and operated her very own beauty shop, Judy’s Country Comb, for 30 years. She was great at what she did and she loved to care for people and their needs.

She was immersed in the Catholic Faith at an early age where it would continue to be her lifelong support. She was deeply in love with her faith. While at church, she enjoyed cleaning candles and decorating for the holidays with a group of wonderful ladies and gentlemen. Although it was hard work, she had fun doing it! One thing that Judy was particularly proud of, was her time spent as the head of a major capital campaign for the Barrier Free Entrance at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church where she raised over $87,000 in one month. Because of her hard work, she was able to pay off the Barrier Free Entrance bill in full, in only 12 months. She thanks the Parish Family for their generosity. Her involvement with her church did not stop there. Judy, along with Carol Marinich, started the Sacred Heart Ladies Auxiliary, where they would restore and refurbish various items to their original beauty. These ladies worked long and hard hours to get the work done, but they enjoyed their time as well.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Georgianna (Selden) Robillard. She is survived by her brother Joseph (Helen) Robillard and sister MaryAnn (Thomas) Voskuhl, all from L’Anse, Michigan; Nieces and nephews Ed Robillard from North Carolina, Dan (Lana) Robillard and John (Debby) Robillard from L’Anse, Michigan, Kati Jo Augst from Neenah, Wisconsin, Libby (Michael) Holt from Saline, Michigan, and Jim Voskuhl from Negaunee, Michigan; Great nieces and nephews Joseph (Rachel) Robillard, Kyle (Tracy) Robillard, Justin (Courtney) Robillard, Kobe Robillard, Kade Robillard, Abbey (Levi) Wells, Kailie Moses, Alyssa Robillard, John (Andrea) Holt, Erik Voskuhl, Tom Holt, and Hannah Voskuhl; Great-great nieces and nephew Tate Robillard, Lyli Robillard, Gracie Robillard, and Harper Robillard. She also recognizes her very special friend, Arlene Kemppainen as well as Delores (Boodie) Schneider, Carolyn Pastermak and Mary Tervo and her great group of ladies from Skanee and L’Anse that forms her Lenten and decorating groups. They all meant the world to her and she loved them dearly.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 25 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church with Father Corey Litzner officiating. Following mass, a lunch will be served in the Bishop Baraga Hall at the church. The pallbearers are Ed Robillard, Dan Robillard, John Robillard, Jim Voskuhl, Jason Kemppainen and Jim Kempannen. In lieu of flowers or plants, Judy wishes to please donate to the Ladies Auxiliary in her name.
