Judith Haataja, 82, of Sedar Bay passed away Friday April 2, 2021 at her home after a short illness.
She was born on January 7, 1939 in Laurium a daughter of the late Walter and Aili (Harju) Torola.
Judith graduated from Calumet High School in 1957.
Judith was united in marriage to John “Jack” Haataja on November 30, 1957.
She was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet.
Preceding her in death was her daughter Ruth, a great granddaughter 2 sisters: Eva and Ellen (Chester) Ylitalo and three brothers: Leo, Peter and Paul.
Surviving are: her husband John “Jack”
Children: Mary Kay (Tim) Anderson of Rockford, MN Joann (Dave) Taivalkoski of Sedar Bay, Roger (Trudi) Haataja of Sedar Bay, Ronald Haataja of Boston Location, Laura (Leonard) Hill of Traprock Valley and Kathleen (Joe) Helppi of Salo and daughter in law Cynthia Macgowan of Virginia.
48 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren
Brothers and sisters: Mary Tolkkinen, Bob (Lorraine) Torola, Helen Heinonen and Allan (Maria) Torola
Sister In laws: Esther Torola, Ellen Torola, Kathy Pieti and brother in law Bruce (Anne) Haataja.
And numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 6, 2021 at 3:00 PM in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet with Pastor Richard Eskola to officiate.
Visitation will be on Monday April 5, 2021 from 5-8 PM in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Tuesday.
