Judith Gail Hesterberg, 82, a resident of Hancock passed away May 27, 2023, at her home in Hancock.
Judy was born on July 18, 1940, in Hancock, MI, a daughter of the late Bertha and Robert Wuebben. She attended the Stanton Schools and graduated from Houghton High School in 1958. She graduated from Northern Michigan University with a degree in Education.
Judy’s career included work as a Telephone Operator: a Secretary for the Forestry Department at MTU; and a Teacher at the Washington Middle School in Calumet.
She resided in the local area, with a brief time in Detroit.
Judy was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock.
On April 1, 1980, she was united in marriage to Gene Hesterberg. On September 26, 2010, Gene preceded Judy in death.
Also preceding Judy in death were her parents, Bertha and Van Korpela; two brothers Roland Wuebben and Mark Korpela and a daughter-in-law Sharon Hesterberg.
Surviving are:
Two sons from Gene’s family, Bill Hesterberg of Rosendale, WI, and John (Debby) Hesterberg of Port Huron, MI; grandchildren: Brian Hesterberg, Christopher Hesterberg, and Katie (Andrew) Moore; and great-grandsons: Jayden, Camden, and Ethan Moore. Also surviving are one brother Steve (Gina) Korpela; sisters, Luana (Roy) Kangas, Linda Korpela, Sheila (Don) Lehtola, Doreen Korpela, Cindy (Terry) Simonson, and Lorri (Glen) Simula; two sisters (in-law), Jane (Mike) Luusua and Thelma Korpela; and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service for Judy will be held 12:30 Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock with Ronald Jouppe to officiate. Burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 10:30 am until time of services at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock.
