Obituary: Josephine Marshall

Hancock: Josephine Marshall, 104, a long-time resident of Hancock, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday evening, October 11, 2018.

She was born on December 16, 1913 in Baltic, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Skok) Taucher, attending local schools.

She was married to Henry “Hank” Marshall on February 25, 1941. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1986.

Josephine worked at Stella Cheese in Hancock in her younger years. She also worked as a secretary at the Coast-To-Coast Store in Hancock, and later at Flowers by Sleeman in Houghton. She enjoyed knitting, needle work, and flower gardening.

She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock and the former altar society.

Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Taucher; and a granddaughter, Caren Polso.

She is survived by 3 daughters: Joanne Cote of Clinton Township, Carol (Milton) Polso of Hancock, and Patricia (Thomas) Heikkinen of Jackson, MI; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Church of the Resurrection with Reverend Father Corbin Eddy to officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

Friends may call at the church for an hour before the mass on Monday. The O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home of Hancock is assisting with the arrangements.
