Joseph John Bard, age 77, died in Grand Rapids, Michigan on October 26, 2022. He was a lifelong visual artist and videographer who previously resided in Chicago, Illinois, Dallas, Texas and Hancock, Michigan. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 12, 1944. . He attended Roosevelt University and the Art Institute of Chicago. While residing in Dallas, Texas, he worked recording presidential events at Commerce Place. In Hancock, he worked for Michigan Technological University.
Joseph Bard researched genealogy documents for the Bard Family. An avid reader, he was also a lifelong artist working in pencil and paint. Carol and Joe spent their winters in Gulfport, Florida
Joseph Bard was an active member of the 173rd Army airborne brigade from the Vietnam era. He regularly attended reunions. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection. in Hancock
Joseph Bard was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lorraine Bard of Chicago, Illinois, and Houston, Texas. He is survived by his beloved partner, Carol White of Grand Rapids, Michigan and her daughters Erica and Amanda and husband Joe. Joseph Bard is survived by his son, Alexander Bard and Jennelle Bard of Atlantic Mine, Michigan, and his grandchildren: Jensen and Nina.
He is survived by brother Richard and Olenka Bard of Houston, Texas, with nieces Jennifer, Cynthia, and nephew Richard and spouse Kendall with their son Richard III. He is also survived by his sister, Judith and Alan Schafer, of Wauconda, Illinois and nephew Alan of Iowa.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 10th, 2022 at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock, Michigan. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 Am with the funeral following at 11 AM and ending in the Oskar Cemetery in Oskar, Michigan.
