Joseph E. “Joe” Robillard, age 81 of L’Anse, MI, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Bayside Village with his loving family by his side. He was born in L’Anse on November 4, 1941, the son of the late Joseph and Georgianna (Selden) Robillard. Joe graduated from L’Anse High School in 1961. Throughout his life, he had been employed with Celotex Corp, L’Anse Village as a police officer, and had been a mechanic at Arvon School and mechanic supervisor and a bus driver at L’Anse Schools until his retirement in 2001. Joe was an avid farmer and was well known for his sweet corn. He owned and operated Robillard Farms from 1961 until 2020. Joe married the former Helen Godell in Bergland, MI on October 27, 1999. He was a member of L’Anse Baptist Church. Joe enjoyed carpentry, helping at church with any maintenance issues, watching sports and playing 7 Up, 7 Down and Skipbo. He loved spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by is loving wife Helen of L’Anse, children Ed Robillard (fiancé Allison) of North Carolina, Dan (Lana) Robillard of L’Anse, John (Debby) Robillard of L’Anse, and Kati (Reggie) Augst of Neenah, WI, step-children Craig (Heather) Foy of Wolverine, MI, and Jolene (Jake) Foy of Ishpeming, grandchildren Joseph (Rachel) Robillard of Kansas, Kyle (Tracy) Robillard of Palmer, Alaska, Abbie (Levi) Wells of North Carolina, Justin (Courtney) Robillard of Oconomowoc, WI, Kobe Robillard of San Antonia, Texas, Kade Robillard of L’Anse, Alyssa Robillard of L’Anse and Kaylie Moses of Neenah, WI, step-grandchildren Brendan Foy of Wolverine, and Daniel Rantanen of Ishpeming, great grandchildren Harper Robillard of Kansas, Tate Robillard of Oconomowoc, WI, Lyli Robillard of Oconomowoc, WI, Gracie Robillard of Alaska, and Hazel Moses Perry of Neenah, WI, step-great grandchildren Logan Rantanen, Ethan Rantanen, and Raina Rantanen all of Ishpeming, and his sister Mary Ann (Thomas) Voskuhl of L’Anse. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandsons Ryan Robillard and Trevor Rajala, stepson Michael, and his sister Judy Robillard.
A funeral service for Joe will be held 12 p.m, Saturday, June 24, 2023 at L’Anse Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Bishop officiating. The family will greet friends at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Immediately following the funeral service, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the church. Interment will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
