Jonathan Lo “Loey” Butler,79, a resident of Calumet, MI passed away on Monday June 24,2024 at U.P. Health System Marquette.
Jon was born January 2, 1945 in Laurium, the seventh child of Bertram and Gertrude (Koskela) Butler. Jon attended the Calumet Public Schools. Jon spent most of his working years with the Marquette Medical Care Facility as maintenance foreman and then as Physical Plant Supervisor. He loved to hunt, fish, garden and use his many talents to help others.
Jon is preceded in death by his son Eric Butler, also parents Bert and Gertrude Butler, Brothers George Robert “Bob” Butler, Allan Butler, and David Butler. Sisters Mary Jean Rastello, Patricia Loonsfoot, and Nancy Butler. Brothers in-law Merlyn “Pinky” Rastello, Larry Loonsfoot, and Neil “Tom” Davison.
Jon is survived by the mother of his children, Pat Butler, his life partner Bonnie Butler, Sons Jason Butler, and Darren (Casey) Butler of Gaylord, MI, and daughter Bridget (Paul) Spencer of Central Lake, MI, Grandchildren Jonathan (Danielle) Spencer of Pittsburgh, PA, Michael (Jessica) Butler of Bellaire, MI, Amber Spencer of Bellaire, MI, Owen Butler and Ella Butler of Gaylord, MI. Great grandchildren Liam and Luca Spencer of Pittsburgh, PA, and Violet Spencer of Bellaire, MI Step children, Debbie, Bobby (Allyson) and Roger (Donna) Filizetti and step-grandchildren Tony, Tristin, Tabin, Amanda and Lizzy.
Also survived by brothers Tom (Barbara) Butler and Bill (Cindy) Butler. Sisters Lois “Mike” (Tom, deceased) Davison and Margaret “Peggy” Butler, Great niece, and hunting partner Amara Butler, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of UP Health System for their excellent care.
A memorial service will be held for Jonathan at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home at 12:30 pm on Monday, July 8, 2024 with John Berry officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:30 am – 12:30pm.
The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
