John “JJ” Vanhala, 65, a resident of Chassell passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at his home.
He was born on August 28, 1956, in Milwaukee, WI, a son of the late John H. and Phyllis L. (Huhta) Vanhala. JJ was raised in Chassell and attended the Chassell Schools.
Mr. Vanhala was a self-employed carpenter and a gifted woodsman and woodworker. He also was an avid outdoorsman and talented cook of wild game. He enjoyed working on various projects visiting with family and friends. He was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post #6507 of Chassell.
Preceding him in death were his mother Phyllis Kilpela and his father and step-mother: John and Kathy Vanhala.
Surviving are:
His brother: Mike (Kristiina) Vanhala of Chassell
His nephew Brandon Snow of Houghton
Numerous cousins and friends
A memorial service for JJ will be held 4:00 pm Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell with Rev. Soren Schmidt to officiate.
