John P. Hrebec, 58, a resident of Calumet passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at his home.
He was born on January 11, 1960 in Laurium to Joseph and Jean (Hodge) Hrebec.
He attended Calumet High School and graduated with the Class of 1978.
John was an avid gardener, and had numerous varieties of vegetables and flowers in his garden.
He loved hunting and fishing, and he also enjoyed going for bike rides everyday, walking his dog, and listening to classic rock music.
During the fall and early winter you could catch John at home watching the Green Bay Packers.
John loved spending time with his family and his friends, especially with his grandson, Logan.
On June 14, 1980, he was united in marriage to Christine Chopp at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Calumet.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Calumet.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jean Hrebec, his sisters; Sue Gazza, Joan Kleven, and Martha Hrebec, and his brothers, Pat Schutz and Joe Hrebec.
He is survived by:

Jennifer (Josh) Pellow of Lake City, Michigan
His grandson: Logan
His buddy for 9 years: Holland
His mother in law: Sharon Chopp
His father in law: Joseph Chopp
His sister: Margie Bonnell of Illinois
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 7:00 pm at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Ken Toth to officiate. Friends may call the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm until the time of the service at 7:00 pm.
Burial will take place in the Lake View Cemetery.
