Obituary: John Elmer “Buffalo” Yrjana

Lake Linden: John Elmer “Buffalo” Yrjana, 68, of Lake Linden, passed away at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center on February 19, 2019 with his daughters by his side.

He was born March 24, 1950, a son of Elmer and Juliana (Strang) Yrjana.  He was agraduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell High School and earned his Welding Certificate from Northern Michigan University.
       He served in the United States Marine Corp. in Vietnam.
       He owned and operated Copper Machine and Welding.
       He was a member of American Legion Post 90 in Lake Linden.
       He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carving, and woodworking.
       He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by: 2 daughters-Wendy (Greg) Davis of Pulaski, WI and Dena (David) Cowardin of Duluth, MN; 3 grandchildren-Jaden Davis, Cora Davis, and Leo Cowardin; 2 brothers-William (Mary Ann) Yrjana and James (Acyne) Yrjana; and a sister-Mary (David) Solosky.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 23, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Pastor Ken Toth to officiate.

Visitation will be for one hour before the service.  Spring burial will be in the Liminga Cemetery.
