John August Parkila, age 69 of Nisula, MI passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Bayside Village in L’Anse, MI.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 1:00 p.m. in the Pelkie Cemetery. A family luncheon will follow at Jim & Tina’s home in Pelkie. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

John August Parkila, age 69 of Nisula, MI passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Bayside Village in L’Anse, MI.
He was born November 22, 1948 in L’Anse, MI son of Donald and Milga (Maki) Parkila. John graduated from Baraga High School in 1966 then attended the Jacobetti Trade School at NMU. He worked as a Carpenter Millwright for the Union for over 30 years.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, storytelling, and hanging out with his family and friends, especially his nephew Cooper.
Surviving are his siblings Ron (June) Parkila of Chassell, MI, Shirley (Keith) Wanhaaho of Elo, MI, Arvo (Sharon) Parkila of Garden City, MI, Jim (Tina) Parkila of Pelkie, MI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and nephew Greg Pyykkonen.
Graveside services will be held in the spring in the Pelkie Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
