Traprock Valley: Joanne M. Polzien, age 72, passed away peacefully, in her home on June 7, 2023.
She was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on December 29, 1950, a daughter of Frank and Darlene (Jones) Diplock. She attended Franklin High School in Livonia, graduating in 1968.
She worked for the Michigan Municipal League in Lansing. She was an administrative assistant for Connor-Harbor Legal and Wisti and Jaaskalainen; and for over 35 years, she enjoyed working at Michigan Tech, a job that was very important to her.
In 1987, Joanne was married to Doug Polzien.
She was an award winning crocheter and knitter for most of her life. She spent many years working with stained glass and had done pottery. She loved almost any craft project, in media from wool to wall board. She liked traveling, camping, and loved her dogs. She was a wonderful cook and baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-Robert S. Mac, Jr., a sister-Donna Brinkman, and a niece-LeAnn Brinkman.
She is survived by: her husband-Doug; daughter-Teresa (Derek) Poyhonen of Dollar Bay and children-Bailey and Breyden; son-Jason Mac (Julie Collick) and children-Magnus and Jules of Marquette; and Alfonso (Canine).
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public services. The Pearce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
