Obituary: Joanne H. Erickson

Joanne H. Erickson, age 65 of Skanee, MI passed away unexpectedly at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. She was born in L’Anse on May 15, 1956 the daughter of the late Ralph and Delores (Koskimaki) Soli. Joanne graduated from L’Anse High School in 1974. She married Kelly Erickson at Zion Lutheran Church, Skanee on November 2, 1975. They had just celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. Joanne had worked in maintenance for Baraga County for over 15 years. She was a 31-year EMS for Bay Ambulance and a volunteer EMT for Skanee First Responders. Joanne enjoyed leather crafting, 4 wheeling and taking care of everyone. Joanne’s desire to care for everyone included being a Gift of Life Donor.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband Kelly, siblings Mary Dee (Richard) Schmitz of Pittsburg, James “Whitey” (Nancy) Soli of Skanee, Elaine (Dave) Whitman of L’Anse, Jane Roy of Skanee, and Dan (Jeri) Soli of Oak Creek, WI, and her special friend, Char. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Kelly, and brothers-in-law Dennis and Roger.

A memorial funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Peter Suomela officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service.

Interment will take place in the Skanee Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Joanne’s honor to be directed to a charity of their choice.
