Obituary: Jim Shea

Jim Shea, 81, a resident of Eagle Harbor/Copper Harbor, Michigan, entered into eternal life on November 15, 2021. 

Jim was born on January 14, 1940, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, a son of the late John Joseph Aloysius Shea and Kathryn Ann Pabst 

He married Janet Cox on December 13, 1980. 

Jim was a Loving husband, father and grandfather. He was mentor and teacher to too many to count. 

He was a joyfully obsessive fisherman who loved being on the water. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and the art of taxidermy. He owned the Harbor Lane Cottages, Shea Decoys and Shea Gift Shops. He also founded the Drayton Plains Nature Center. 

Jim was employed for the Michigan DNR for many years. 

He was a passionate cook, and he took pride in teaching his family and friends the art of cooking. 

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sharon LeBerge. 

Jim is survived by his loving wife Janet,  
His daughters Kathryn (David) Ozment of Sheboygan, WI,  
Debra Williams of Florida, Jacque (Daniel) Weeks of Florida, Colleen (Jeremy) Whitmire of Calumet and Heather (Michael) Davise of Laurium.  
Son Thomas Winar of Florida 
19 grandchildren: Tiffany, Adria, Nathan, Hannah, Abby, Christopher, Shea, Paul Ryan, Danielle, Elizabeth, Mandela, Faith, Michael, Ashley, Malik, Justice, George, Tariq and Tajah-Rayne  
15 great grandchildren.  

A visitation will be on Saturday November 20, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home.  

A funeral mass will be held in the spring at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Copper Harbor.
