As received from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel:
JEANNINE C PELTO 89 of L’Anse, MI peacefully passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Bayside Village, L’Anse, MI with her daughters Cathy and Debbie, and son-in-law Keith Budreau at her side. They were singing Amazing Grace to her as she took her last breath of life.
She was loved by so very many for her sweet, and gentle way of being. She would stop someone if they gossiped or spoke unkindly about another. She was known for her little idioms such as “dirty shirt!”, and SO BE IT! She is missed, already!
Jeannine was born on July 13th, 1930 to Exilia and Joseph Mose Bellaire in Baraga, Michigan. She was number 13 of 14 children born.
Jeannine married the love of her life, John (Jack) Pelto in 1951 and they brought 6 children into the world. Jack preceded her in death in January of 1985, leaving her with a broken heart to heal. The love of family and friends, and her faith in the Lord comforted her and kept her going for years to come. She was an active member of St. Ann’s Church in Baraga, never missing Sunday and Holy Days mass.
She is survived by her only living sibling, June Allm of Lawton OK, children Russell Pelto of San Diego, Paul (Lori) Pelto of Clyman, Cathy Bolton-Jurmu of L’Anse, and Debbie (Keith) Budreau of Rubicon, WI, 9 grandchildren, & 7 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sons Neil and Timothy preceded her in death, as well as granddaughter DeHannah.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2019 in the Pelkie Cemetery with Deacon John Cadeau officiating. Immediately following the graveside funeral service and interment, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon at the Baraga American Legion Post #444.
