Jean M (Barry) Alatalo, 82 of Calumet, Michigan was called home to be the Lord on December 15, 2023.
Jean was born on March 7, 1941 in Quincy Location to Arthur and Mabel (Goudge) Barry. The family moved to Ahmeek Location when she was a child. She attended Calumet High School and later married John E. Alatalo of Copper City in 1960. Jean and John later moved to Pontiac, Michigan with their 5 children in 1972 for work. She moved back to her beloved Keweenaw in 1994.
She was the most loving, caring, thoughtful and genuine person we ever knew. She was the rock of the family, if you needed someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on she was there. She would tell you how it was whether you liked it or not, but she could also make you laugh. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild with her whole heart as family was her everything. In addition to family, she enjoyed camping, traveling, watching hockey especially the Detroit Red Wings, attending community events, and attending church services at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Laurium. We were blessed to have her in our lives. You are deeply loved and will be missed.
Preceded in death by: her parents Arthur and Mabel Barry, her brother Fred Barry, her husband John E. Alatalo and her grandson Eric Trapp.
Survived by her brother Jack (Buxsy) Barry, her children: Karen (Ron) Trapp, Michael (Cheryl) Alatalo, Randy Alatalo, John (Lisa) Alatalo and Renee Violette. 12 grandchildren: Julie, Erick, Katie, Ronnie, Jessica, Angel, Justin, Jamie, Heather, Holly, Brittany and Mika. 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, 3 nephews: Rod, Dan, Chris and 2 nieces: Jackie and Janet
