Jean Julia Juntunen, age 77 of Baraga, MI passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 14, 1945 in Hancock, MI daughter of Alfred and Olga (Sillanpaa) Haataja. Jean attended the Doelle School in Tapiola. Jean married Raymond Juntunen on November 3, 1962 in Tapiola. She was a home maker.
Jean enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, gardening, traveling with her beloved husband, and spending winters in Lake Worth Florida.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond Juntunen of Baraga; sons, David (Kathy) Juntunen of Lansing, Steven Juntunen of Pelkie; daughter Christine (Del) Lapine of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Leslie Haataja of Elo, Severi (June) Haataja of Chassell, Louis Haataja of Baraga; sister, Elma (Mike) Heikkinen of Elo; grandchildren, Lane Juntunen, Elizabeth Juntunen, Ryan (Cheyanne) Juntunen, Alexis McFerrin, Faith Juntunen, Morgan Palmer, MacKenzie Palmer, Piper LaPine, and Lily Lapine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Alexander, Brynolf, Willard, Ernest, Fabian, Norman; sisters, Elizabeth “Betty”, Martha Neal, twin Jenny Kaster, and Nelda Wakham.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 10th from 1-3:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Schierkolk officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Sharing Room with food being donated by family and friends. Burial will be in the Elo Cemetery in the Spring of 2023.
