James R. “Jim” Vander Zanden, age 75 of Ishpeming, Michigan passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at Mission Point Nursing and Physical Rehabilitation Center, Ishpeming Michigan.
Jim was born on August 27, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan to Martin and Anna (Zwiers) Vander Zanden. He attended High School in Garden City, Michigan. After graduation Jim joined the Carpenter/Millwright Union where he worked until his retirement. Jim was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions and Tigers. While on visits to the Upper Peninsula he could be found cheering on his nieces and nephews who played football, basketball, and baseball. Since moving to Ishpeming, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and his faithful dog, “Killer”.
Jim is survived by siblings Ed Vander Zanden of L’Anse, Joanne (Harold) Galske of Green Bay, WI, Gloria (Gary) Nault of Georgia, Gale Maki of Ishpeming, Andrew Anderson of Ishpeming, and Bonnie Pelto of Green Bay, WI and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Mary Jane Tindle, and his special friend and companion Lynn.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
Interment will be in the Champion Cemetery.
