James A. “Jim” Pini, 72, of Hubbell, passed away Tuesday afternoon at UP Health System-Marquette on February 8, 2022, following a short illness.
Jim was born July 23, 1949 to the late Alfred “Dick” and Irene (Clouthier) Pini. He attended Lake Linden-Hubbell Public School, graduating with the class of 1967, and then he attended mechanic school in Marquette, followed by Suomi College in Hancock.
Jim was a past member of the Hubbell Fire Department as well as Commander of American Legion Post 90 in Lake Linden. He also served with the 107th Engineers-National Guard, Calumet. Over the years, Jim worked for a number of local businesses including Northern Hardwoods, Frank Siller Construction, 41 Lumber, Auto Value, and most recently as the Regional Sales Manager for SPC Midwest.
Jim is survived by: his wife-Susie Fennell-Pini of Hubbell; his one surviving aunt-Claire Chaput; siblings-Patricia (and the late Don) Hallowell of Dowagiac, MI, Jo Ann (Jim Kuusisto) Pini of Hubbell; his children-Brad (Jessica) Pini, Elise (Dennis) Provost, and their mother-Marilyn (Haller) Pini; also sons-Nathan (Gretta Hansing) Kellstadt of Albany, NY and Thad Kellstadt of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren-Kurtis Provost, Julia Deiro, Kyle Provost, Wyatt Provost, and Dayne Pini; niece-Cherie (Ron) Janik and their 3 kids, nephew-Don (Teri) Hallowell and their 3 kids; numerous other relatives and dear friends, along with Jim’s favorite walking partner, Tyson.
Jim was preceded in death by a sister-in-law-Beth Courtney and brother-in-law-Don Hallowell.
The family would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” for the tremendous amount of care given to Jim throughout his illness to the following: Dr. Thomas McConnon, Melissa Salani, PA-C, and UP Health systems Portage and Marquette and a special thanks to all the wonderful people at the beacon house in Marquette.
There will be a memorial gathering from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 17 at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden, where the Copper Country Veterans will conduct Military Rites at 7:30. Also, a celebration of his life will be held this summer to honor Jim.
