Obituary: James Nowicki

Mohawk–James M. “Jigga” Nowicki, 81, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at The Lighthouse at Hubbell, where he had been a patient for the past 9 years.

Jim was born in Mohawk on June 15, 1936, the son of the late Martin and Anna (Supanich) Nowicki.

He was a lifelong resident of Mohawk.  He worked at various jobs from peeling poles for the power company, Nowicki Trucking, the Goodman Sawmill in Mohawk and Keweenaw County Road Commission.

Jigga loved watching hockey, especially the Copper Kings and the Wolverines. You could always find him at local events or Slim’s Restaurant or Jim’s Pizza for coffee.

He was preceded in death by his dad in 1961, his mom in 1991 and his brother Bill in 2002.

He is survived by several cousins and lots of friends.

We would like to thank the staff at The Lighthouse at Hubbell and Dr. Luoma for taking such great care of Jigga.

Friends may call on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at the Ryan Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate.
