James E. Brandt beloved husband, father and grandfather, 65, a resident of Redridge passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at the Spectrum Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI, surrounded by his family following a short illness.
He was born on November 24, 1956, in Pittsburg, PA, a son of the late Norman and June (Connor) Brandt. The family resided in the Pittsburgh area for a while before moving to Henry, Illinois. James was a graduate of the Henry-Senachwine High School with the class of 1974.
He then enlisted with the United States Navy, where he balanced family and military life. On July 25, 1981, he was united in marriage to the former Jacqueline Luoma. He retired after 20 total years of service in 1995.
The couple moved back to the Copper Country where James worked for Toivola Mill Works and later for Somero Enterprise. He also received a degree in Business from Michigan Technological University in 2006.
Mr. Brandt was a member of the Range Apostolic Lutheran Church and was an honorary member of the Stanton Fire Department. He also assisted with the start-up the New Day Ministry. He enjoyed boating, 4-wheeling, camping, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents, June and Norman Brandt; his In-laws, Elsie and Aaron Luoma; his brother, Norman; his sisters-in-law, Kathy Luoma and June Jenkins; and his grandson, Owen Brandt.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Range Apostolic Lutheran Church in South Range with Rev. Ernest Bylkas to officiate.
