ATLANTIC MINE
Jack David Koskela, 78, a resident of Atlantic Mine, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Mission Point of Hancock.
He was born December 29, 1941, in Atlantic Mine, a son of the late Willard and Lillian (Bakkila) Koskela, and was a 1960 graduate of the Jeffers High School.
Jack was employed by Chrysler in Detroit for many years until his retirement.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1964-66.
Jack was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of South Range, and Ranger Post 6165 VFW of South Range.
He enjoyed bird hunting, was a wizard with all electronics and loved the Copper Country and Country music.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Susan of Atlantic Mine; daughter, Lisa Koskela Umbreit of Detroit; two granddaughters, Nicole and Brittany; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Charlotte, Zachary and Logan; a sister, Betty (Fred) King of New Hampshire; nieces, Cindy, Dena, Debbie, Suzanne, Cheryl and Cara; nephew, Michael; and his first wife, Marie of Detroit.
Besides his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by sisters, Rose Hill of White Pine and Linda Onkalo of Dearborn Heights.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at the Atlantic Mine Cemetery with Vicar Micah Cavaleri to officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Ranger Post 6165.
