Irving Otto Santti, of Pelkie, passed away Thursday, Aug. 4th, 2022 after 37 years battling Multiple Sclerosis with his wife and best friend Patty at his side. He was 70 years young.
He was born Oct. 15, 1951, in Hancock to the late Paul and Eva (Turunen) Santti. Irving graduated from Baraga High School in 1969. He had been employed for 25 years at White Pine Copper Mine. Following the closure of the mine, he attended Gogebic Community College and received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. He was a member of the Ottawa Sportsman Club, Pelkie.
Irving lived each day as it came and he grabbed a hold of life at its fullest. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, diehard Green Bay Packer fan, but first and foremost, he was a family man. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone.
Irving is survived by his loving wife Patty, his children Christopher Tripp (Jamie) of Baraga, and Nicholas (Becky) Santti of Mississippi, grandchildren Mihalia, Kalli, Skyler, Paul, and Dillon and one great-grandchild Jaiden. He also is survived by siblings; Clyde Santti of Baraga, Steve (Wendy) Santti of Pelkie, Cindy (John) Hoover of Twin Lakes, Paulette Laitila of Eagle Harbor, and Tammy (Brian) Kero of Ontonagon. Numerous nieces, nephew and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Irving’s life and potluck luncheon will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at the Ottawa Sportsman Club, Pelkie, MI.
In lieu of flowers or plants the family suggests memorials in Irving’s honor to be directed to the Ottawa Sportsman Club, 11075 State Highway M38, Baraga, MI 49908
