Helen Marie Matson, age 87 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Bayside Village in L’Anse.
She was born December 31, 1932 in Pequaming, MI. She graduated from Chassell High School in 1950. Helen married Kenneth Matson on February 26, 1955 in Detroit, MI. They resided in Fraser, MI for 30 years, moving back to the U.P. in 1989. She worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell.
Helen was a member of the Lutheran Church in Chassell. She enjoyed catalog shopping, latch-hook rug making, and gardening.
Surviving are her daughter Melissa Matson; grandson Ryan; and special friend Lynn Paquette.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Kenneth; son Kenneth; brother Marvin Kohtala; sisters, Lillian McDermott and Kathleen Vanhala.
There will be no funeral service. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
