It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen (Eleanore Michaelson) Pesola on December 9, 2022. She was born on February 15, 1927, to Mariam (Marie) Lilstrang and Arvo Michaelson. She married Raymond Pesola (deceased) and had two children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family first.
She was a very kind and loving soul who brought joy to everyone she met. As a nurse, she had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She worked as a Public Health nurse and at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. After retirement, she volunteered at The Jacobetti Home for the Veterans and played the piano once a week during church services. She had a passion for music and loved to play the piano, organ and accordion.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Ojala and her two sons Dr. Gene Raymond Pesola (married to Helen R. Pesola) and Dr. David Arvo Pesola. She had five grandchildren: Abbie Pesola Kramer, Kellie Pesola, Gene Richard Pesola, Glen Raymond Pesola, and Gary Roger Pesola. She had four great grandchildren: Addison, Brayden, Braxton, and Hallie.
The wake will be held at Jacobson Funeral Home at 200 L’Anse Avenue, Michigan 49946 on Sunday, December 11 at 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at the same place on Sunday, December 11 with Pastor Ken Storm at 1:30 PM. Burial will be in the spring in Elo Cemetery.
