Gregory J. Oestreich, 76, a resident of Ripley, passed away at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born on October 2, 1946, in Beaver Dam, WI, a son of the late Lester and Hildegard (Becker) Oestreich. Greg was raised in Beaver Dam, WI and moved to Houghton as a teenager. He was a graduate of the Houghton High School with the class of 1965.
Mr. Oestreich was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Viet Nam War.
On September 11, 1982, Greg was united in marriage to the former Donna Bush.
Following his time in the service Greg worked a variety of jobs before beginning a career in the Computer Operations Department of D&N Bank in Hancock. He then owned and operated Weber’s Sporting Goods in Houghton before becoming a licensed Realtor working for Century 21 North Country Agency.
Mr. Oestreich was active in the Realtor Community sitting on the Board of the UP Realtor’s Association. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors downhill skiing in the winter and sailing in the summer. Greg was a Kind, caring person who enjoyed giving a helping hand at any given time.
Preceding him in death were, his parents and a brother Lester Oestreich.
