Gordon William Sedar (Sid) 68, of Bootjack passed away at home on December 3 due to complications from frontotemporal dementia.
He was born on September 4, 1953 in Laurium, the son of the late Carl and Edna (Peura) Sedar.
Gordy graduated from Calumet High School in 1972. He was united in marriage to Lois Pesola on July 25, 1981.
Employed most of his life as a sawyer for local logging operations, Gordy started Gordon Sedar Logging in 1995 and retired due to health in 2011.
He loved to tell stories about all of his logging adventures.
Gordy enjoyed playing hockey and softball along with being an umpire at softball and baseball games. He was always ready to watch the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, MTU Huskies, and Calumet Copper Kings.
He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports and became a Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes fan as well. Pops loved to take his grandchildren fishing and for boat rides.
Preceding him in death were his parents Carl and Edna, brothers David and Michael, and father-in-law Albert Pesola.
Surviving are his loving wife and his seven children: Danielle (Brian) Davis, Leanne (Jake) Neal, Jason (Stacey) Sedar, Edward, Mark, Alisa, and Heidi Sedar; and 11 grandchildren: Brenden, Ben, Brad, Natalie and Annabelle Davis; Jack, Elliot, and Iyla Neal; Troy and Allison Corrigan and Brielle Sedar.
Also surviving include his mother-in-law Florence Pesola, sister-in-law Kaye (Louis) Garnell, brother-in-law Bill (Sandy) Pesola, cousin Helen Sedar, bestie Doug Cline, his four legged friend Shunga, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Gordon was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet. A funeral service at the church will be held on Friday, December 10th at 12:00 noon with visitation starting at 10am, Pastor David Taivalkoski officiating.
Spring burial will be in the Chassell cemetery.
