Hancock: Glenn Harold Chapman, 88, formerly of Hancock, Michigan passed away on June 08, 2021 in Port Charlotte, Florida with family by his side.
He was born to the late Harold & Mildred (Reid) Chapman on April 1st, 1933 in Mesick, Michigan.
He graduated from Mesick High School in 1951.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 where he served as a Seaman on the USS Siboney.
On September 1st, 1956 he married the love of his life Evelyn Sylvia (Lantto) in Detroit, Michigan.
They raised five children together in Mason, Michigan; (4) daughters and (1) son.
He was employed by the United States Postal Service from 1957 to 1989. He began his career as a letter carrier and retired as a Postmaster from Negaunee, Michigan.
He was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church where he served as a board member for several congregations. He also was a member of the Eastern Mission Board for several years. His Lord and Savior were very important to him. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, gardening, handyman projects, garage saleing, crosswords puzzles and eating ice cream.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn of 58 years, granddaughter in-law Lucille Sunnarborg, Great granddaughter Jemima Sunnarborg, his Parents Harold and Mildred Chapman, Brothers; Paul Chapman, Arthur Chapman, Sisters; Barbara Blake, Jean Schneider.
He is survied by his (5) children; Gayle (Norman) Hovis, Linden, Michigan, Barry (Rebecca) Chapman, Port Charlotte, Florida, Bonnie (Mark) Sunnarborg, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Colleen (Michael) Sunnarborg, Cloquet, Minnesota, Betsy (Marlon) Bertram, New Ipswich, New Hampshire, 21 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, Brothers; Charles (Ellen) Chapman, Harrison, Michigan, Donald (Gertrude) Chapman, Chestertown, Maryland, Ronald (Linda) Chapman, Troy, Michigan, Sister In Law Carol Chapman, Orlando, Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his smile, hugs, laughter and great love for his Lord and family.
The Graveside Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 19, at the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, Michigan, with Pastor Ken Storm to officiate and the Copper Country Veterans to conduct military rites. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 18, at the O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock.
