Gladys I. Schutz, 94, a resident of Houghton passed away Friday, January 8, 2021, at the Omega House in Houghton.
She was born on February 25, 1926, in Painesdale, MI, a daughter of the late George and Mary (Sivonen) Luoto.
She was happily united in marriage to Claude “Cully” Schutz for 39 years. The couple resided in Houghton where they raised their family.
Mrs. Schutz was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and music.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, her sister and brother-in-law: Lucille & Clarence Pakkala, her brother and sister-in-law: Raymond and Dorothy Luoto; her son-in-law; Mike Dixon, and her grandson; Deron Dixon.
Surviving are:
Her daughters: Claudia (Jim) Etapa of Chassell
Mary (Rich) Brovont of Wyandotte, MI
Jeanne Dixon of El Cajon, CA
Linda (Joe) Miller of Atlantic Mine
Nancy (Bill) Lepisto of Hancock
9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christina Burial for Gladys I. Schutz, 94, a resident of Houghton who passed away January 8, 2021, at the Omega House in Houghton will be held 10:00 am Friday, June 18, 2021, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Burial Will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests memorials be given to Omega House in Houghton or the Copper Country Humane Society in Houghton.
The family would like to thank Omega House staff for their loving care. Also, many thanks to Dr. Trusock and his nurse, Chris, for many years of excellent care and kindness.
